Mangala Arati on Narasimha Caturdasi (Sat, May 5)

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

Hare Krishna
On Saturday, May 5th, we will be celebrating the auspicious appearance day of Lord Narasimhadeva. Although there is no school on this day, as a Gurukula community we would like to make a special offering to the Lord, by honouring and glorifying Him at the Mangala Arati ceremony in the temple. We would like to invite all our parents, students and friends for a special Mangala Arati on Saturday, May 5th at 4:30am at the New Govardhana temple.

During the Mangala Arati ceremony, the Gurukula students will be given a chance to lead a special Narasimha prayer and present their offering cards to the Lord.

Hoping our efforts will be pleasing to Lord Narasimha.

Your servants,
Gurukula Team.

Digging Up the Past

Our High School history class was learning about 'Digging up the past'. Our resident prac student Ms Brown (Pesala) put on her Indiana Jones hat and with Vinod Bihari prabhu took the students on an archeological dig in the school gardens. Using 'satelite photographs' to pinpoint where the artefacts were located students used digging tools and brushes to excavate the area. The class discovered 7 artefacts including pottery items and a sword and shield. It was a fun activity and the artefacts will be used in the upcoming history topic about Ancient Greece.

Plant vs Animal Cells Project

As part of the 6-8 students' science tasks for the term unit of 'Cells', they each created a poster showing a drawing of a plant and animal cell, as well as describing their main organelles, and the differences between them. Of particular note were Lakshman's and Narayani's.

Fun at Tallebudgera

As part of the 6-8 students' Personal Development and Physical Education component they attended the Tallebudgera Beach School Olympic Teambuilding Course on Wednesday 28th March.

They competed against each other, as well as against Labrador State School. The results were very close, but at the end of the day, a team from our school won! Jai Bhaktivedanta Swami Gurukula!
